What the talk is about
Markéta and Martin Kudera founded Živina, a maker of kimchi and other ready-to-cook basics, without knowing anything about food production. Both came from marketing. Today they run a team of 45 and expect to reach CZK 100 million in revenue by the end of 2025, four and a half years after launch. In this talk they walk through the four obstacles they hit while growing: nobody knew the brand, nobody had tasted the products, the money ran out and production couldn't keep up.
You'll learn why their first "crazy" visuals failed a test with people who share their values, how handing out products to friends and networking helped the brand, and why free kimchi in exchange for a questionnaire brought in more than 2,000 first customers. Markéta and Martin explain how they got listed on Rohlík after a year and a half, why they financed growth with a bond issue instead of selling equity, and why a physical production business has to plan years ahead.
