What the talk is about
Most teams know how to create a great experience. Stephen P. Anderson, Chief Experience Officer at a Silicon Valley startup, takes on the harder question: how do you shape the company culture that actually creates one, and how do you justify investing in something so intangible to leadership? He looks for answers in board game and video game design, which he sees as the closest relative of interaction design.
You'll learn how games like Lanterns and Pandemic are designed around one specific feeling and what the MDA model is. Stephen demonstrates it with the audience through a game of 20 Questions and translates it into offering, behaviors and experience. In the final part he uses Slack and Wells Fargo to show why good conversion numbers don't have to mean a good experience, and walks through today's options for measuring experience.
