A table full of numbers tells the C-suite nothing, a good visualisation does. Mike King, marketer, developer and rapper, who places himself among the rappers with the biggest vocabulary on a chart he shows, uses this 2014 talk to show how to pull data from different tools through APIs and turn it into a story.

You'll learn how an API works, from request and response to JSON and rate limiting, and how to try one without code in Postman or Excel add-ins. In a PHP crash course Mike covers variables, conditionals, loops, arrays and CSV files and puts them together into a script that pulls data from an API and saves it. He then runs through 20 APIs useful for reporting, the D3 and C3 charting libraries, Klipfolio for no-code dashboards and the data viz brief as a spec for visualisations.
